6/3/08 My 2nd Data Colloection session
    06/03/08

We had probably collect the most Images to arcive this session with a man donating 70 images to us then an another couple donating slides for us to use, but it's a shame we can not get the slides scanned into the archive, as there are about 80 of them.
Although we haven't had many people coming to us donating the images, we have got over 140 images not counting the images from the slides.
Next session I hope more people decide to come as it would make it less of a harduous process.

    Pictures Galor
    06/03/08

On Thursday 6th March there was another picture collection, this time one man brought in 70+ images on USB pen of Marske in the recent years. Another man brought in some old slides which contained pictures of Old Marske, unfortunatly we were not able to scan the slides in as we did not have a slide scanner but hopefully we will next time.

    1st Data Collection Session
    07/12/07

The first data collection at Marske Library was a great success, although we only had a few people coming and giving us pictures to scan and use in our archive. The people that came kept us all busy and engaged their fascinating stories about marske and the events that happened, like Empire day.

We managed to add 33 images to our archive and also we recorded the stories of the photos with 12 stories told to us and hundreds more that we haven't recorded.

Vera, a retired school teacher with an MBE for teaching for 40 years, especially made us enjoy ourselves, and we've learned a huge amount of the history of Marske from her, like there is one of the few listed telephone boxes in the country behind the Ship Inn.

We all enjoyed it, with Mrs Race, Miss Smith, Steve Thompson and Tracey from the Libary overlooking everything. James, Mike, Camille, Sam, Charlotte, Rachel, Conor, Hayley and Amy all doing the Data Collection and listening to every word that members of the public told us.

In conclusion it was much more intresting than first expected, and we were allways kept very busy.

The project began today when eight students of Bydales Specialist Technology College went to BBC Tees Open Centre. The students visited for a training workshop. Throughout the day, students used the scanning software, the google docs software and practised the processes of creating a digital archive. They used some sample archive photographs to practise with but then created their own upto date images by scanning the contents of their pockets (see below.)
